About the Author
Dr. Kal Renganathan Sharma,
PE holds joint appoint-
ments as adjunct professor in three departments, Chemi-
cal Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil
and Environmental Engineering, at Prairie View A&M
University, Prairie View, Texas. He is the author of
6 books, 13 journal articles, 454 conference papers,
53 preprints, 36 seminars/invited lectures, and 21 other
publications. He has instructed more than 2000 students
in India and the United States via 70 semester courses.
He received all of his three degrees in chemical
engineering—B.Tech. from Indian Institute of Tech-
nology, Chennai, India in 1985 and MS and PhD from
West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia
in 1987 and 1990, respectively. He has held a number of
high-level positions in engineering colleges and uni-
versities. He has served as a reviewer for John Wiley
and Sons, New York,
Journal of Thermophysics and Heat
Transfer, Chemical Engineering
, and
Chemical Engineering
Communications
. He is a co-convener at the II Interna-
tional Workshop in Nanotechnology and Health Care,
SASTRA University, Thanjavur, India and co-chair at a
number of conferences including Track Co-Chair at the
Energy Sustainability/Summer Heat Transfer Confer-
ence at San Francisco, California, in July 2009. Civic
activities include President, India Students Association
at West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia,
and General Secretary, Ganga, Indian Institute of Tech-
nology, Chennai, India.
